I'm grateful that almost everyone I know and am still reasonably in touch with in New Orleans and the surrounding areas got out in plenty of time. I'm also grateful I'm not stuck in the evacuation traffic of this one this year.

archaica finally hounded me enough to get me to post pics of my new place. Believe me (and you can ask anais921, too), the pics don't do it justice. ( I just don't have the equipment to photograph in the right perspective the spaciousness the 12 foot ceilings give the place. )

The journey down to New Orleans was suitably adventuresome. Not a lot of drama, but some interesting stuff. We took a detour at the end of Wednesday's leg of the journey so I could see the Luray Caverns, which are a marvel of geology. Thursday we drove through Virginia and rain, and into Tennessee.
